Well, the ATC1 probes are ok if the ambient temperature and the pipe temperature are not very different...

Do Not use the clamps that come with that unit!!!
I broke mine out yesterday to have two temps at once and they were way off!!!
Felt like a fool cause I knew better but this was in a cooler with the evap fans off so I thought I'd be ok.
It is surprising to me how some folks say they have no trouble with them.

Ive been using the feildpeice clamps for over a year and haven't broke one yet. now that I say that they will bust on my next job . lol

Another vote for the D.C. AK900. It's the only digital I have used but so far it's been great. I would definitely get the new clamp probes with it as well as a set of wrap-arounds. I just have the two kinds of velcro wrap-around type and while they work well, they are a bit of a pain sometimes. I'm getting a set of clamps ASAP.

For refrigeration I like the Digi-Cools
If I could only have one unit it would be Digi-Cool no question.
Tough Unit no special treatment necessary.
The AK-900 has everything on one screen.
All button pushing to toggle screens to see the different measurements on all the other guys units is very annoying to me
