The concepts of victimhood and entitlement keep a lot of people in office, and there is an entire cottage industry devoted to keeping the idea of blaming everyone except yourself alive from moment to moment.

Heck, you can even find so many people who feel guilty about these things they will elect a President to try and escape these guilty feelings. And the worst part is, they don't have to actually be guilty of anything.
