Had the EXACT same thing happen to me. Check out the low voltage wiring - the W1/2/3 is probably jumpered at the AVY. Take the jumper out and it should be OK. Feel good that you didn't change 3 stats and still get the call at 2:30am. Yes, I said AM..... And an hour away from home - yep, it sucked......

Yes I am familiar with York Affinity.... YZE/AVY in my home Hot heat pump a neat option to have. Never experienced this problem before, which is why I thru it out there.

Are you familiar with the affinity and its low voltage wiring?

They work really well with additional Aux Heat Lockouts as well as a nice little hot heat pump mode when done correctly.

Its only two years old and a little thing called manufacturers warranty, coupled with the fact its 30 miles one way and that small thing we call profit on the job comes into play. A stuck sequencer or relay??? why does the problem go away after the power is shut off and turned back on. If de-energized and the switch or sequencer is indeed stuck the problem should still be there when the power is turned back on. That I have experienced, not this one.

the stuff on your service truck should be sufficient, why replace a heat pack when it's probably the relay

How did you determine it was the Tstat. Did you use a meter to see if Stat was calling for heat? Probably heat sequencer sticking.

York Affinity/AVY with Honeywell T8320 programmable stat

Having a problem with the electric heater and indoor fan remaining energized after the demand for heat is met (set point 72.... indoor temp shot up to 84) and even when the mode is switched to off and the fan set to auto. Only way to stop is kill the main power to air handler,when power is restored normal operation is resumed. This happened last year as well at the first cold snap, my apprentice attended that call and we concluded it was the stat. It was changed out and not a problem for the remainder of the heating season. Fast forward to this heating season, now a couple of months into it, no problem, first real cold night same issue has occurred again. heat pump off, tstat off,heaters energized /fan on and overheated home.


Anyone experience this sort of thing? will be attending in person to sort out
