    HELP!!
Mike .. If you have issues, post as much information as possible on the devices. Sounds like you have a small system as you only have two floors. Multiple bus’s shouldn’t be an issue. I would start with a search in CView on Bus-0, run the search from 0-239 to be safe, if there are secondary bus’s, the bridges will show up. If the install/setup tech did his job properly. The CCN device, VAV or wall sensor should be marked with the device address.

As old as 1991, the wall sensors may or may not have com jacks. Typically a standard wall sensor with no com uses 3-wire. With com jack will use 6-wire. You shouldn’t have digital display in 1991, but they need 4-wire with no com and 7-wire with com.

Demo of the wall sensors should not have killed the mother boards, just opened or shorted the sensor. If com bus is to the wall sensor, a short may take down the entire communications. Sound like you definitely need check/fix the wiring to the devices from the construction work.

Is it true as my partner was told by Carrier that the standalone program Search was never meant to be public and that he should have never gotten his hands on it?
I don’t think Search is a non-public program, it may have been before CView. To my knowledge, it is not a software package you can purchase. I haven’t messed with older service tool, but CView doesn’t give you an option to change the element address or device name like Service Tool did, which makes Search a necessity for CView. Maybe when they went to CView from Service Tool, they let Search go to the public. My first version was offered without issues when I needed it for a job.

There are several versions of Search, one shuts down CView Services automatically, the one where you had to shut down CView Services manually to use it and the recent one works with the CView Services.

There are other programs for CCN that are also not available for purchase like the Point Trace Utility, Bus Diagnostic Utility [which I use a lot] and the CCNWeb Graphics Generator [which I use when I setup graphics on the CCNWeb boxes].

From what I hear, CView 3.1 is the last version. IVue & CCNWeb3 will be the primary interfaces. Service Tool V [5] will be the new search & setup for the devices and with USB support , which will be a purchased software package.

That is a possibility, but RS-485 networks are pretty tough. Do you have the site already set up on the laptop? It will make it easier to see how the network is layed out. First thing to check is power, of course. Perhaps they cut a power daisy chain and shorted a few critical transformers. Next, try communicating with all the controllers to see what responds. This is were having the site info on you computer will come in handy. If that dosen't work, you need to run a bus scan to search for controllers and devices on the network. If you need CCN manuals, try the Carrier web site under controls or I can email you the ones I have (700+ pages on ComfortView!) My email address is under my profile. Hope this helps and good luck!

I've worked with CCN some. The sensors have an option to run the comm. wire to the sensor so that you can plug in and see the entire network. It's easier than going to the RTU (example).

So check those zs's, and make sure there isn't any short. Wish I could help more.
