didnt think 60 was good.... im going to try to see if i need a charge first, units at least 20 yrs old bought the house with it there

No 60 is not good enough.

thanks,already have the fan ,was just wondering..checked temp at grills coming out i have 60 degrees ,going in the return 71....dont know if thats good enough

an ugly return vent on a freshly completed cathedral ceiling? perish the thought my friend. it will be a nightmare to clean in the future. strongly suggest a nice ceiling fan, perhaps one with a 4 ft drop down pole, and enjoy.

Depends on where you can relocate your return, and how easily it can be done.

It likely wouldn't hurt anything, but might not help either. You've increased the general mass of the room by making it bigger (taller), which will require some more cooling in there.

One of the possible easier/better options would be to get a ceiling fan in there and let it do it's magic.
