    Entire system to NCE both processors?

    I need clarification:
    NCE is one controller that has two separate processors. 1) supervisor device *ours states the object count is 600. 2) branch tree underneath the NCE supervisory device labeled (NCE-AHU) its object count is 2300.

    With an NCE only, where does the recommended-maximum object count add from the the NCE supervisory device or the FEC part of the NCE or both NCE separate processors recommended not to exceed 2500 object count?

    NCE's can be a little confusing since they are two processors in one.

    COV happening for the points in NCE, you can check it at the "Diagnostics" tab of NCE....find out the value COV/min..

    Ok, this is my question, does or CAN the overage of the object affect the CPU, Memory ? If so what directly and what issues for example may we have. Then I think I am pretty much done on this.

    This doesn't mean it always can happen, but what does going over the object quantity take away from in other areas? Does it reduce the capability of any other functionality of the system? If it is design recommendation limit, there must of a been good reasons, to stay within their recommendations.

    Just think of the NCE as your PC. You have ram and certain amount of programs. If you start adding more programs, the PC gets slower. To much and it really starts to fail. Same as the NCE. The object count is what JCI feels is a good amount for the NCE to operate with in a timely manor. Once you start to go pass this, things start to slow down. If you look at the NCE and alarms, you'll see what the CPU, memory and other things are set at. These are the limits of the ram etc in the NCE. Once it starts to go pass this, you are having issues.     This doesn't mean it always can happen, but what does going over the object quantity take away from in other areas? Does it reduce the capability of any other functionality of the system? If it is design recommendation limit, there must of a been good reasons, to stay within their recommendations.

    I think after this I will pretty much have a good understanding, thanks to all of you of this issue.

    1. NAE part
    Recomended object quantity on NAE part of NCE :2500objects - including network objects
    Recomended network objects per ms/tp or n2 trunk : 1000
    So for example 1000 network objects +500alarms extensions+ 100 trends extensions=1600 objects
    And if you using FEC part and wan't to see it's network objects they are added too on internal ms/tp trunk.

    2. FEC part is independent from nae (they could be a different releases)
    there is no object quantity in FEC part - there is only memory usage

    Don't get confused! The NCE - 2500 objects is everything in the NCE. That includes all the CCT program points and the NCE programming stuff. You are getting confused on this subject. The CCT is only the programming part of the NCE - think of it as a field device like the FEC. The NCE contains 33 Inputs and Outputs and can contain up to 1000 objects.
