This is a very skilled talent, but at the same time hard to accomplish. The art of turning a crank .010” and propelling the vehicle down the road is multi tasking at it’s finest. Grocery list so far: Turn crank Resize rods Hone block Flush oil galleys REAL good Buy new bearings Buy new gasket set Buy new rings Case of beer Total cost of having an idiot on the payroll $425.00
Lack-'O-Lube'll do that.....
Smok'n........That babies toast.
I think Ive found the problem #1 rod bearing beat to death...
I think Ive found the problem
You dont know how much I wish that van had a 302, I can build one of those with my eyes closed now, plus Ive got enough parts to build 3 rotating assemblies lying around, it would be too much trouble to convert it over though.
You should put that Stang engine in there. Just think how fast you could get to service calls then.
The thing is I put a new engine in this van 50K miles ago, Its a 4.9 Straight 6, Im just going to have the crank machined and put new bearings and an oil pump in it, if it goes boom oh well I havent lost much but my time, the van is in good shape otherwise which is why Im going to fix it, plus if it goes well Im getting myself a new one to drive as my Chevy is pushing 200k
a FORD van, yep I would take it too the wrecking yard lol. Ok honestly I wouldnt on that age van but that just depends on what you ca afFORD to do with it. Guess thats just an opinion of a CHEVY fan.
Pulling the engine in a van can be a bear, gotta remove the front clip.......I never done it, but might have to soon on my old 92 dodge. She still looks good so it would be worth it....Have Fun
because one of our guys ran it with low oil, A hvac company should have a maintenance program on their vans but if you can fix it then do it you will save alot of $$$$$$$$$$$.
Short block? Or you gonna be a hero and go all the way?
Im depriving the local junkyard of their livelyhood
