I've made a couple of posts here requesting advice on replacement of my existing geothermal system. ClimateMaster Classic 3 ton installed in 1997. I'm replacing it because not only is it 13 yo but I feel I'm having another coil failure and am told it will impossible to get a coil replacement due to it having the old R22. And I can take advantage of the .30 tax credit as well. While talking to another HVAC guy yesterday he was curios as to my current zone dampering system and more specifically if it had a bleed off to send the forced air from the closed zone back to the air handler. The duct work that was installed was done years after my home was built and was 'retrofitted' to fit within those spaces accessible. There are 3 air feeds, all terminating at the last vent with no duct work to send any air back into the system. My question is "On a 2 zone, 3 feed system, do I need return venting to send air back the AH when that zone is closed?' He was concerned about CFM's and static pressure which is all Greek to me. He wants to come out to do some testing on my current system that I'm sure will be charged for. Is what he says reason to have him inspect my current duct work?

He installs GeoComfort which I'm not at all familiar with. I've estimates for Water Furnance, Florida Heat Pump and ClimateMaster (all with 1k of each other). He didn't give a model number only to say these are the units his company installs.

Thank you to all you experts.

Does this look ok? How do I know these will all work together effeciently??? Will this qualify for the full tax credit? Anything else I should be aware of with this system???

What are peoples thoughts on 2 Vs 3 stage (AFUE 94-2 stg and 95%-3 stg)and is this a deal or is that about the right difference in pricing between the two??

I know there is another current thread on the subject, but I would like feedback on this brand. We have used three different ones over the years (two Electro Trucks and an Escalera) and have never been completely satisfied with any of them. The Powermate LE-1 is expensive, but looks like it will fit the bill.

Building a new home and the builder is installing pretty generic Carrier equipment ( I can get model #'s tomorrow) 2-zone system and thermostats. They installed a Honeywell HE365 humidifer as well.
Basement is Gas & A/C, 2nd floor is heat pump & A/C.

For the main level I want to have a contractor come in and possibly upgrade the humidifer to a Truesteam model. Don't know if the cut-out of the HE365 will be too big to now change to Truesteam? How will a contractor fix this? I want to upgrade the thermostat as well.

My question is, do I have them install an IAQ version of the thermostat so it only uses 2-wires to the thermostat? Or just use the standard Prestige model and get the Wireless Truesteam humidier?

Advantages?

Thanks

If all I change is the instance number on the controller (TECs) as I Paste will this be the only thing I need to do? JCI tells me I need to auto-discover all non-FEC or (VND) devices individually and bring the controllers and points in 1 at a time, which is a pain in the!!!
I will be using both trunks starting at address 4.

Its one of those coolers that they store there condiments in, tuna mayo, onions lettuce etc....in plastic trays that sit on top///type of unit. Owner said all of sudden it stopped cooling and temp went up to 56*. I didnt have any equip with me at the time so i dont have any pressure info yet. Everything was running, compressor, cfm, efm. Compressor was really hot but still running. What would I check here. I cleaned condenser coil and evap was clean. Temp dropped to mid 40's but no lower. I was leaning towards needs a charge, but since it stopped cooling all of a sudden...i wanna think otherwise.

Just wanted to see how you guys deal with being a service tech and married at the same time. This field is demanding. And so are women. Hvac is our life, and so is our women. I know everything takes compromise to work right. My situation is this...been married for going on 8 yrs., together for 10. I love her to death. 3 kids, recently bought our first house together. We have a great relationship. Ofcourse we fight about things like normal couples. But I think the biggest deal recently is how much I dedicate myself to this trade, and doing everything at every moment to increase my skills. I dont feel I put us on the line, after all....we all need money right. Last night after a 2 day troublesome job, i told her money it made.....she complained ofcourse. Come home too late, she complains. Spend too much at a store, she complains, enough never seems to be enough. Am I the only one going through deals like this?????
