Ok guys I had a IGBT board blow up on the vsd module. It was not hard to find what was wrong with it . just was not sure why it did it i know there was power lost and then about 4 hours later the vsd blew up.. the motor meg ok. i know it put a lot of stress on everything in there. anyway i just installed a new VSD module kit and replaced the trigger board. those were the only parts i could see that were damaged. after starting the chiller i got a code phase C gate driver. i have done all the steps to make sure if the OSCD logic board is working properly. i have moved pins J8 J9 and J10 around and i still get the same thing. pushing the test button on the logic board only has the
-C not working. all 6 lights on the IGBT board lit up. i have done the test procedure on the IGBT module and also on the Harmonic filter IGBT module. They both check out ok. but there are only 5 lights that are on the IGBT module for the Harmonic filter.....or are all 6 supposed to be lit up?

is there any other way to check the filter logic board and the OSCD logic board to see if they are bad before having to change them out?

I have read the manual and did everything it said to do. I am not a York employee or JCI, technical support will not talk to me. I have talked with several other techs and no one can figure this out. Are there any kind of resets on the CTs that is causing the phase imbalance?

model number YT K3 D1 E3-CNJ This is a 351hp I also had to change out the Breaker in the drive ..

Thanks Helpful input would be great.. :gah: :gah:

Hey guys I have two Optiview control panels that were taken off of our chillers for sale. Came off in great working order. Also have an older York control panel for sale. It was a working panel that was taken off due to a decomission of a chiller for an upgrade. Also have all of our DSC, other FIC board componets and Metasys parts.. Not sure what this stuff is worth, but shoot me some offers. Let me know what you are interested in. Thanks.

I live in a 70's split-level, the AC unit and thermostat are both located in the basement along with the only return. The AC unit does a decent job as long as I trick the t-stat and lower the temp to like 65. If I dont do this the upstairs stays somewhat warm as the ac wont kick on for most of the day. I hear this is a common problem with older split-levels. Ive had several ac companies out to access the situation. The option are split units or dampening system in the duct work, but these are very costly. Like I said the single unit dont do too bad as long as trick the t-stat. One guy reccommended a new t-stat with sensor. He said to place one sensor downstair and three upstairs with the t-stat being one of the sensors. He said then let the t-stat average the temp between all the sensors. The guy said this was not a cure all solution but it would be better than it is now by te t-stat kicking on at a regular basis and causing more air circulation. Right now when I lower the tstat to 65 it stays on for a longperiodof time. the downstairs always stays cool.

I was wondering if any of you had heard of this?

Thanks

You would think the larger hotter line would have given them a clue. At least they got them on the right line right ? I'm guessing they have been that way for some time. I will be installing a new one with the compressor I'm installing. Do you think I should change the other ?

Good evening everybody,
I'm in the process of replacing the AC in my home, as the original York evaporator is leaking. System is 13 years old so I'm contemplating replacing the furnace as well. Trying to understand a little more about the two mid-level Bryant options, the two-stage 80T (312AAV) and the 80X (313AAV), either probably paired with the 126 or 123 Preferred AC units. My understanding is that the 80X uses a more efficient ECM type motor which contributes to raising the overall SEER rating of the AC system. The 80T from what I gather has a two stage burner with two corresponding blower speeds, but uses the older style PSC motor.
Is my understanding on those correct?
For the 80X, while it's a "single speed" it also seems like perhaps it has different speeds depending on the operating mode - one for when it's heating, one for when the AC is on, and another low speed for when you're just running the fan. Is that right? Does the 80T have a similar set of speeds?
Our heating and AC bills each total ~$450 per year, and we don't have any particular comfort complaints so I'm not inclined to spend the extra cash on a 90%+ furnace, higher SEER AC, or an Evolution/Infinity type system. At this point mainly just curious about the relative pros & cons of these two furnaces. Thanks,

Jeff

The following was sent with a request that I place a post in this forum.

Here is the job notice.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Are you tired of the rat race.  Do you have refrigeration experience e.g. Restaurant coolers and freezers, walk ins, Air Conditioning, Heat Pumps?
Can you weld, do sheet-metal, install HVAC-R equipment.  Have you installed or serviced Variable Refrigerant Flow systems.  Are you willing to learn more than what you know now??
The work is here, and shows no signs of slowing down.  I work 60-80 hours a week, and can’t keep up.  Unlimited potential in one of the most pristine places outside the lower 48.  This job is not for anybody.  It’s in Sitka Alaska, with a temp range of 20’s in winter and 65 in the summer.  Its wet, a lot.  It is located in the Inside Passage in Southeast Alaska.  Don’t make the mistake of thinking you can drive here on the “Alaska Marine Highway”  It’s a Ferry System.  (One guy actually made that mistake, obviously, he didn’t last too long)
Some of my service work starts with a 737 flight to Juneau, then a 4 seater to Skagway, Haines, Prince of Wales, Petersburg etc….  Flying over Glaciers, rugged mountains and Alpine lakes.  On those days I reflect back to the days of commuting on the clogged highways and arterials of Los Angeles, Seattle, even CoeurdA’lene Idaho.
I came here 7 years ago on a 1 year plan, then 3, then 5. I have no intention of going back.  In the wintertime we warm up in Mexico or Hawaii.   If this sounds like the perfect opportunity you can contact me.  Pay scale is union scale with union benefits.  (About $45.00 on the check, and 30 in benefits)
Serious inquiries only can email me at johnb@schmolckmechanical.com
