Florida is a HUGE non-union state . The wages are kind of low in comparison to other places . You may be in for a shock once you start talking to companies and see what they offer you . Try looking up a McQuay Service office there. I think there are 5 offices scattered over the state.

last time i checked while on vacation i found the plumbers and fitters(me) in the same union at half of what i was making. (chicago area) . And most resi units to service are in attics & garages at a zillion deg (far). not a good place to work in our trade.....

Carroll Air Systems is the McQuay rep. in Tampa/St. Pete. If it's big, chances are, they're involved somehow.

What refrtech said, I worked there for several years, I admit this was 20 years ago but the wages were piss poor, weather conditions terrible, and everyone disliked A/C people about the same as lawyers....

Orlando is always looking for good techs. Union wages are about $21.50 or so plus benies. Plenty of companies paying overscale. Its lower compared to other places, but the cost of living is lower than a lot of areas.(For now). Lots of work year round.

Yeah is hot.

Hope this helps. Good Luck.

Bradenton/Sarasota area is a good place. 20-25 an hr with lots of overtime available. The economy is booming, its seventy degrees all winter long and housing is affordable in neighboring counties like Manatee and Charlotte.
Also most of the Air handlers are in a conditioned space or hanging in the garage. Everybody is hiring.....goodluck.
