Hey guys, I'm hoping someone here can help me with what I would consider to be basic information. I am interested in using a Redlink thermostats with the internet gateway. I have had no luck on Honeywell's website trying to find out if you need an internet gateway for each stat or if they all can share one redlink internet gateway? I am assuming the latter but I have found nothing to confirm this. What is the limit on the total number of stats that can connect to the RIG?

Thanks!

Go to www.forwardthinking.honeywell.com As I remember from the webcast with Nordyne the gateway is like any wireless hub.

If I remember correctly you need a gateway for each individual system. If its a zoning situation with multiple stats on on system that would use 1 gateway. You can have a nearly unlimited number of gateways and tstats under one Total Connect Comfort account.

It's not a zoned system. It's just a large building (a church) with multiple RTUs in one part of the church and a boiler with several zones in another part. It seems silly to have to hook up a gateway for each system. Other manufacturers have a single gateway that serve multiple systems. I guess I'll have to look at the webcast but I have been to their 'forward thinking' website before and found nothing useful in the reading material.

You only need one RIG for up to 5 systems. A wireless zone control board is considered one system no matter how many zones. So if you have less than 5 systems you can put them all on one RIG.

I attended a class on these and the instructor had demoed a Prestige 2.0, a wireless baseboard heat controller, a focuspro wireless and a wireless zone valve controller system, all hooked up the the RIG

I missed that at the class I guess, It is a VERY impressive piece of tech for the money though. Its gonna be nipping at the heels of all the Metasys and Crestron stuff in the very near future.

Well, it would be more than 5 systems but less than 10 and I could live with the idea of having 2 RIGS just not 9! Thanks for the help!

Keep i mind you need to have wireless thermostats for the RIG to work. If you dont already have wireless you need at least the focus pro wireless series on the unit otherwise the RIG is worthless.

Thank you, I do realize that which is why I had mentioned Redlink thermostats in my original post. It does kinda suck that I had replaced all these stats 2 years ago but I am tired of getting calls to fix things some bonehead did to the stat. Also, I wish they made a 7 day programmable in the FocusPro line rather than just the Prestige line. I don't need the Prestige features EXCEPT 7 day programming.

You can hook up 4 "devices" to one rig. Any of the wireless devices they have. ie. stats, zone panels, ect...
