I recently had a Trane 16i, 2 ton installed. The installer placed it on a 3x3 ft concrete pad. Turns out the unit is 37 inches wide, so each side sticks off the edge of the pad by 1/2 inch. I can stick my finger up behind that outer plastic face.

The main bottom of the plastic tray is well supported. Should I be concerned about this?

Also, the pad is not level, and I am going to ask him to correct that. I included a picture but doubt I linked it correctly

thanks

The pad will likely support the unit ok but I would ask that a pad a little larger be installed. It has a more professional look, you will be less likely to hit the unit with the lawn mower, and grass will not grow up past the pad into the coils. Also ask why he did not remove the old slab or put the new unit on top of it (if that is the old slab under the new pad, hard to tell from the picture)

Its just an aesthetics thing. No harm in how it is.

tell them to read install manual that clearly states to cut off that shipping tab that has the staple in it .
