Hey everyone...
We had a new HVAC system installed this summer after our 19yo system finally bit the dust. There were a few problems right away after the system was installed where there was water in the pan in the attic that wasnt draining and so the system kept tripping off. The company that installed it kept coming back until they got everything straight, and for the rest of the summer the AC worked great. Now that we are into the winter months, we have noticed an occasional odor when the heat kicks on. The best way I can think of to describe it is wet dog! Kind of a wet, musty smell. The strange thing is, we only ever notice the smell first thing in the morning. We do turn thje heat down at night when in bed, but it is not off completely during the night. I have it programmed to come on at 5am when I get up for work, and I dont ever notice the smell then, but my wife always smells it right around 7am, which I do too when I am off work. Not sure if the time frame has anything to do with it, but it is just a little unusual we never smell it the rest of the day.
Anyway, sorry to ramble, just wondering if anyone has any thoughts. It is still under warranty and is due to be serviced soon, but I am just trying to get some ideas so I can make sure they are checking the right things. By the way, the system is a Trane split air heat pump with part of the system in the attic and the rest outside. Thanks for any thoughts!
