I bought a 2 ton Amana ASZ16 heat pump and AEPF air handler two years ago. After about a year the heat gain seemed low. The first issue I had was leaking indoor copper coil which was replaced with an aluminum coil. After that the heat gain seemed very good.

Now its a year later and the heat gain seems low again. I keep my house at a constant 68 degrees. Yesterday and this morning the outdoor temp was 33 degrees. The heat pump was taking a bit to warm up after defrost and the air coming out of my vents would get to about 79-80 degrees. Shouldn't this be higher, more like 87 - 88 degrees?

Kind of :censored: right now. I am thinking the system is not working right, again. I hate to be charged a service call if everything is right though. Looking at the ASZ-16 manual the delta T should be in the 19-20 degree range for an outdoor temp of 30-35 degrees.

68+20=? have a service call, and try a different service provider

Need to read at the air handler in & out also. That tells whether the HP is just wimpy or whether you have significant duct heat loss.

I wouldn't think there would be that much loss from the duct. It's about 10 feet from the air handler through the basement. The intake should be very close to 68, pulls from ceiling level higher than the thermostat.

Just checked mine, 22° rise. It's 34 out, snowing & raining and the coil is starting to frost up.

79-80 degree supply temp between 32-36 degree outdoor temp with inside 68 degree thermostat setting is too low.

Baldie's temp rise is nearly double yours.

Something not right here.
