do you realize that if any of you ACCIDENTLY shot someone you'd be sitting in jail right now?
you know what i think they should do?
1) make him take a piss test
2) slap Cheney with a crime
3) raise his insurance
4) make him surrender his guns, if any
5) give him that stupid smerk that they give you when you say "what about the Second Amendment?"
5 1/2) have the ACLU tell him citizens were never meant to own guns
6) make him hire an attorney and appear in court
7) let him see his defense attorney and the judge laughing it up while coming back from lunch
tell him he has to provide proof he had no intent to kill
9) tell him he can't be VP because he has a criminal record
10) tell him he can't go back to a corporation because he has a criminal record
11) and have the police put him on the ground with guns drawn every time they run his plate because the incomplete NCIC database shows 'violent criminal arrest' without the outcome.
THEN he'll find out what it's like being an American citizen in the politics HE supports

Nah, we wouldn't.
you know what i think they should do?
No. I'm quite sure you're gonna tell us, though.
1) make him take a piss test
A little late for that.
2) slap Cheney with a crime
Didn't commit one.
3) raise his insurance
Likely will.
4) make him surrender his guns, if any
There's a typical lib statement.
5) give him that stupid smerk that they give you when you say "what about the Second Amendment?"
What ABOUT the Second Amendment?
5 1/2) have the ACLU tell him citizens were never meant to own guns
They already tell everybody that.
6) make him hire an attorney and appear in court
I do believe he already has one. Laid up in the hospital recovering from a shotgun wound.
7) let him see his defense attorney and the judge laughing it up while coming back from lunch
I imagine he sees that everywhere he looks.
8)tell him he has to provide proof he had no intent to kill
Using birdshot? Ya got anything a little more challenging?
9) tell him he can't be VP because he has a criminal record
No crime committed.
10) tell him he can't go back to a corporation because he has a criminal record
No crime committed. (Does anyone else hear an echo?)
11) and have the police put him on the ground with guns drawn every time they run his plate because the incomplete NCIC database shows 'violent criminal arrest' without the outcome.
I don't think you understand. They already know who he is.

Nah, Bootsie, that does happen to people... More often than it should as well...
Some of them, sure, are not the best citizens...
Although I dont know anyone PERSONALLY this has happened, I know of plenty of people that have been screwed because of a similar hunting accident.
(BTW, the rumor is that Cheney was a little "drunk" at the time... Hence the delay on the news coverage...(time to get some stories straight)
Not my assesment, just what I have heard from the "media"...)

Crap, ole, when I was in high school, there were people peppered 3 or 4 times a year during bird season. Hunting accidents happen. And I admit, some are not accidents. When hunting was slow, we used to team up and stand on opposite sides odf the field from each other and volley, just for grins. But do you think Cheney did it on purpose? Do you really think he tried to KILL someone with birdshot? Do you REALLY, REALLY think that?

He shot a rich lawyer. I would call that a good start.

I don't belive for a second that he was trying to kill his friend. I do however believe there is more to the story that we are not hearing. 18 hours is way too long for this to go unreported - even if he was trying to find out how the guy was doing as purported in his interview last night. Something is getting covered up - we'll just probably never know what it is.

He reported it to the police and he got the guy medical attention right away.
Do you believe it should be law that he call ABC, CBS and NBC with 20 minutes?
No cover up here, just respect for a wounded friend.
If it was me, I'd make the press find out for themselves.
It was a great thing he did for his friend by letting him decide when he was ready to have 50 vulture press idiots clammering outside his hospital door.
These prima donnas are really pissed that the guys wife told the local paper first and scooped 'em.

Bottom line. It was during private time away from working for the country, and therefore not anyone’s damn business what happened.
This is a perfect example of people (libs) sticking their nose where it does not belong, and yet they are the very ones who yell the loudest about freedom from big brother.
Since when did bird hunting become part of governing the people?

According to your ilk, someone who ‘questions’ the actions of G’Dub’Ya (which I have on occasion) MUST be a Democrat right???
Is it REALLY a left-right, right-wrong, vanilla-chocolate world that YOU live in?

Education doesn't teach that. Liberalism does. There's a line drawn even in the gray area. Ya gotta look for it though.
But keep tryin'. Eventually, your failed attempts will turn to success as your eyes open. ;)

Just like whiney ultra-libbies to take a tragic accident and try to turn it into an agenda.
Do these overly hormonal complainers ever think about what those who are in the middle of a situation feel? Is there anyone who doubts that VP Cheney was mortified when he realized he had just shot a friend?
It's not like this was Chapaquidic where there were no witness's, somebody died and no assistance was ever called for. This was a plain and simple hunting accident. Many of these kinds of accidents occur every year and no one gets all bent out of shape over them.
I feel sorry for what both the victim and VP Cheney have had to go through over this happening, but by tomorrow it will be just another macho moment in their lives that they will both be laughing about as they recount it over and over again at get togethers.
Like the victim has stated: "What's all the fuss about?"

Don't get me wrong, but if you are drinking and hit someone with your car you go to jail , the car is considered a weapon. If one is in possesion of a firearm while drinking and shoots some friend by accident a grand jury decides if charges should be brougt up. But like the President the VP is the VP at all times, there is no personal time, hence the Secret Service was on hand. I think all should be hopefull that the man doesnt pass away from complications. My 2 cents

Wishful thinking on your part.
Cheney reported the incident to the authorities and got his friend medical help. The witnesses all made statements to the police clearing Cheney of any crime.
Even if he dies nothing will come of it other than more liberal squealing. In other words SSDD. (same sh$t different day)
Tomorrow the liberals will be squealing about the hangnail Rove didn't call a press conference about.
These hate mongers are so full of bloodlust it's pathetic.

Unfortunately, the same rules that apply to the regular citizenry do not apply to politicians.
Cheyney did not follow basic hunting rules which definitely put someone else at risk and does indeed make him liable.
His actions were not criminal and there has been nothing to indicate any concealment of facts, although the one beer statement is suspect.
I like the VP, but it would be foolish to insist that his action was not reckless. Reckless....but human.
It's not like he drove off a bridge, swam to safety and failed to get help or report a likely death in a timely fashion...now is it?
And yes, those actions committed by a regular Joe would have resulted in a different approach from the authorities.

The same thing happened here last year when one brother shot another one and sent him to the hospital. The DNR and police did nothing. The brother didn't get his jollies shooting his brother. It was a accident and I bet it happens every day in this country with out charges being filed.
The people that make a big deal out of this are nothing but life's losers.
