Whose responsible for initiating public ed? (K-12)
I am not referring to college or university.
You can go back as far as you desire.
Europe or America.

Public education was a neccesarry evil used by the ruling elite to get what they wanted most, cheap efficient labor. The ruling class needed the people to be educated enough to be able to follow written instructions to work in thier factories in the later parts of 18th century, america and england.
Today the ruling elite has turned the proletariat into a population of consumers that knows how to read a written advertisement for thier evil aristocratic propaganda.

Did you know of this man before you read my question?
If yes, then I would like to hear what you have to say about his work.
If no .... no prize.
Frankly, I know public education was first started way before Mann was even born. And it was begun before America was colonized by Honkeys.
For those who are truly interested in this topic ... keep looking. The answers are out there. But you have to dig.
My sister retired from public edu and I doubt she even knows the answers to this subject. Sorry to say.

Refr ... on a lot of topics I can agree with you.
But here, it appears your personal hatred of people has influenced your opinion.

Al right, since noone here has done any homework ... I'll give you the answer.
It was during the Reformation, In Europe.
Then again when the Pilgrims got to the New World.
For 200 plus years in America, the McGuffy Reader was the defacto standard by which public education was rendered to children. Our children.
My Dad, he attanded public education by going to a one room school house in Ohio. "Five miles through the snow"... he used to tell me. :)
All the grades together in one classroom, under one roof.
Christians.
The correct answer is "CHRISTIANS" started public education.
And it worked fine until we surrendared it into the hands of haters of God.
Just watch CNN at night. That's what happens to things when Christ is taken out of the public school system and non-believers are in charge.

That's what happens to things when Christ is taken out of the public school systemHmmmmm.....Christ is still there. What has been taken out is mandated, coerced or authority led prayer. Students are free to say prayers, have religious clubs, meet on school grounds and otherwise practice their religion as long as they behave in a proper manner.
non-believers are in charge.Hmmmmm......every teacher, staff and executive I know are believers. I daresay your information is faulty.

Greer they don't let a little thing like facts stop them. They repeat the same old defeated clap track arguments over and over again like mindless parrots that mimic sounds.

Maybe you haven't heard about the public California school district that had grade 7 students participate in dress-up, role-playing, and simulation games as part of the Islamic history unit. But hey, if the Muslims ever had a friend, it is the Atheist.
"If the belief system had been Christianity rather than Islam, there'd have been hell to pay."
That quote Geer, is from your friend "Snopes" who addressed the issue.

Move along, nothing but james hysteria.

There is no doubt they are legislating God out of public schools. Send your kids to a school that doesn't do that. Who could dispute that some are trying to take the Christ out of Christmas?
Religion clubs? Who decides what is appropriate content, The Master Race?
"I have no problem with any religion being discussed as history.... blah.blah.blah.
Here's the deal imp, I don't recall anyone asking whether it was a problem for you or not.
