Ever calculated the cost to train a rookie?

I did at one time years ago after having the final one go down the road.

Like everyone else I'm forever asked by a newbies and trade schools to take it on. I Haven't calculated it out except in passing thought for a very long time.

If I don't have a good estimate of actual cost these days, How much money does a rookie think is invested in him?

Not alot if you do "train" like my boss did... Here you're going to ride with Joe.... Two days later, "Heres the keys to your van, your stack of calls for the day, and our other service techs phone numbers, call them when you get hung up and they will walk you through it over the phone..." Needless to say, that place is no longer in existance. If you learn from your mistakes, you learn really quick from day one, because there are ALOT of mistakes that were made.
