As with any brand of unit...

If properly sized, installed and set-up to operate with-in the manufactures specifications... it will provide years of reliable service.

You have 7 choices in Tempstar. 4 80% furnaces & 3 90% furnaces.

Base Model 80% N8MPN basic furnace

Mainline Model 80% T8MPN supposed to be quieter

90% 1 pipe system Model #N9MP1

90% 2 pipe system Model #N9MP2

80% 2 stage Model # T8MPT

80% variable speed Model # T8MPV

90% variable speed Model # T9MPV

The T8MPL050B12A is a current model.

T = Tempstar
8 = 80+%
MP = Multi-Pos
L = Low NoX
050 = 50 K
B = 15.5" W
12 = 1200 CFM
A = revision (B is last rev)

Sorry, this has the new version of smart valve.

The problematic model is long gone.
