In regards to Market refrigeration:
Has anyone ever seen or installed a temperature alarm system that is networked, completely digital, can interface with an existing "Legacy" controller or standalone and can be wired or wireless for communication?
If so, what was your opinion of the system, robust or problem prone?
Also, were the units capable of displaying case temperature and a visual alert?

Installed and service Altech, EPC, RMCC, Einstein. Not familiar with Legacy - Sorry.

Legacy system is the type of system Altech, CPC, Comtrol and MT are based on.
Have you been able to "network" temperature sensors or any other devices? ("Network", A single network cable that multiple units can communicate on to eliminate many lengthy analog runs which are far outdated...)

(1) Do you mean remote mounting an input board , and sending all info 400 feet through a comm. line to controller , versus running 16 individual sensors 400 feet each?

(2) Or do you mean 2 separate controllers , each locally controlling their own boards , sharing a common sensor between them through the network? (controller to controller)

(3) Or do you mean no wires at all , totally wireless?
Comtrol and CPC can call a phone / pager / fax
I'm sure many others will also.

Visual alert =(example) yellow/blue strobe light
Audible = bells / sirens

Case temps can be displayed many ways.
Can be setup on a P.C. for local/remote monitoring.

I'm not really understanding what you are asking .Hope this answers your question .

I'm only a " market monkey "

The Micro Thermo Alliance supermarket control system is exactly that. It started as a temperature alarm system that is networked and complety digital.

It can be installed stand alone alongside a legacy system such as CPC. Wireless sensors exists for hard to reach places. Would definitely not recommend wireless for the entire store in order to save on installation. What you save in wiring initially, ends up costing a lot in battery replacement to the customer in the long run.

Micro Thermo and Comtrol or CPC are not interoperable and cannot be directly interfaced. However, MTT can use the existing CPC temperature sensors.

Opinion : if you want a temperature alarming system targeted at supermarkets, MTT is the best. Very robust. Case temps and visual alerts are not located in the cases, but are available.

The MT is good as is the E2. Both the E2 and MT are Echelon based (E2 it is an upgrade) making them network"able" with other lonworks devices.
I am looking for a device that replaces the analog temp sensors and can be connected to a two wire network rather than individual wires to each temp sensor.
I know of one such device that is new, but I am curious to know if there is anything else...
