iq drive

i have been hearing about and seeing some info in trade mags. about frigidaire's new iq drive system,my distr has some info supposeed to be 23 seer inverter compressor due out mid-year...has anyone seen or know anything about?

My experience with manufacturers tends to bet the old addage...if it sounds too good to be true, it usually is. I dont think this is a new concept and I believe another manufacturer at one point in time had a similar variable speed compressor. The problem came from lack of field support. Nobody in the field understood how the dang thing worked and it flopped miserably. Wildly efficient, but ahead of its time. Just my opinion, but any similar product will still be ahead of its time (unfortunately). The statistics for misdiagnosed failed compressors are staggering.

Call me doubting thomas, but I'll believe it when I see it.

Our distributor (Frigidaire) will not sell the IQ system until at least one tech goes to a training class.
