According to this guy, Whirlpool and Kenmore were made by Janitrol/Goodman? When was this?

That would be a little bias if you asked me, showing a Goodman promotion ad to cut the Carrier, and Lennox.
I'm sure if you look hard enough you could find the real facts on Goodman products, and it's repair and warranty service issues..

It's called marketing...
Every manufacture does the same thing...
There are good points to each side.

I'd almost buy the goodman just because I like those contactors better. Its a pain tryin to push a 8 gauge wire behind one of those screws. LOL

They didn't compare to Trane which has all the features shown, including rustproof basepan and coated screws.
They didn't show favorable points of competition, either. Enclosed compressors and demand defrost. I'd expect to see timed defrost on a Goodman.

I think somewhere around 8-10yrs. ago. ICP (Carrier) makes Kenmore now.

And Trane's/A.S. basepans are made of some kind of polycarbonate mat'l which not only resists corrosion & rust but also noise.
Could explain why Carrier/Lennox/Goodmans are still soooo darn loud! :D

My parents have a Goodman heat pump sitting on the porch of their condo and they just love how quiet it is compared to the brand that it replaced. Would you like to show some proof of what you stated?
As for the plastic bases; you need 6 pump ups under the heat pumps to keep the weight of the compressor from making them sag. Not saying it is worse or better, just that these are not viable comparisons of quality but rather personal preferences.

Goodman just came out with a Trane comparison pamphlet as well. Don't get me wrong, this is mostly marketing hype which as has been noted is done by all manufactureres. What is stated is accurate, but of course there are things that are left not stated.

Don't know about Whirlpool, but Sears Kenmore is parts of the U.S. were Goodman for about 5 years up to about two years ago. I was glad to hear when that stopped.
The Trane PTACs were also manufactured by Goodman/Amana until about two years ago when Trane started having them made overseas.

Definitely Kenmore used to be Goodman and I have seen Williamson on the Internet that definitely was Goodman, but have never seen the Williamson/Goodman brand in my neck of the woods. Maybe it is a regional thing.

I assume you are talking about the link? Yes, that site is certainly taking advantage of the marketing tools being made available. Ya gotta love hype and spin.

Goodman never made Whirlpool. Certainly made for Williamson.
Then there's his discussion of CR "flowed" testing. Of course we know that CR tested nothing, just surveyed members. Rheem was #2 as I recall but Ruud certainly not #7. Only thing "flowed" here is his data or manipulation of such.

Forgetting about the sales hype, I liked the “it’s not all about the brand of equipment used, but about who is doing the install and how good of a job they do” part of what I read.

RoBoTec, the one thing that is on every one of your posts that is the 100% pure truth is:
Yes, I could help, but it's not worth the harassment.
And like I have said many upon many of times
“No good deed goes unpunished”

Stick around here and you will really know the impact of that statement :D
Actually, I should remove that sig line. The issue I had has been resolved. I expect some resistance and have been shown the errors in my ways on occasion so I welcome resistance that teaches me. I just cannot abide by those on these forums that only harass those of us who are actually trying to help and learn.

Whirlpool was made by Heil Quaker and sold by Sears. Kenmore was ICP (old Heil Quaker) sold by Sears. Ducane made a lot of furnaces for everybody, Lennox, Carrier, Heil, ect. Just use the logo you wanted on it.

I don't get angry over stuff on the Internet. I did miss the smiley though. Sorry. Some of my antagonists here just don't understand that when they post wrong information I get to get on a soap box to correct them. That way I can claim I am not promoting anything factual data :D

When I first looked at that site, I wondered if they were the company that did the comparison sheets for ICP.
As, ICP has comparison data to other brands that is almost identical. They pick on some of the very same components.

Have you seen the newest base/builders models?
Filter drier factory installed, more of a grille ,sturdier,TXV factory installed,etc.,etc.
The products above the base/builders model ,all with louvers, etc.

the new builders model isnt isnt louvered it has the old style cage on it only comfort performance and infinity are louvered i saw the new carriers back in july. and they model he showed isnt the new one it was the old, and still my point is how can you compare your good unit to a builders model that still doesnt say much about a goodman if you know better and this makes people assume that that goodman blows away acarrier and when it real life you look at the two side by side the regular carrier and you can clearly see a difference and if your looking on carriers website that is not the builders model the only show that on hvacparners the base model is 24ABA3 Base 13

Being in the trade for a few years (over 20 now) I remember when Janitrol/Goodman was really starting to aggresively get in the market. I must admit, they look a lot better than they used to. It looks like they're using thicker metal and last time I heard they were number two to Carrier in new housing, that was some years ago. Why do you think United Technoligies bought ICP. To sell a similiar product. As for Goodman, I got a free one from my bosses track home that he yanked out and is working beautifully at my own home. I couldn't complain about the price. No matter what kind of equipment, even if it's a POS. If it is installed correctly it will work correctly. Of course you can still have other problems with motors, etc. But remember Goodman bought them from someone else, they didn't make them
