if you're looking for 'easy' I recommend you look elsewhere (maybe plumbing), it takes a lot of work to become a competent HVAC tech and not just a night school gas hack.

Well said....seems like everyone is looking for the "easy" way to get licenses/experience now a days...gets very frustrating!!

And where else would you suggest he get started in the trade?? G3 is where one must begin. I am sure he meant best way to get started, not easiest.
So your calling everone that started at night school a hack ???

I do believe by "easiest" that he meant the easiest way to work around his regular day work schedule, as opposed to being a full-time student.

The Himark course is a good one, you get lots of practical experience. They also have a G3/G2 co-op course that you might want to talk to your boss about, 1 week at school, 1 week at work. I have sent guys to this and it works well.

what he 'meant' is irrelevant, what he said matters. Easy was the key word, which means that he is looking for the easy way all around, nothing easy in becoming a good tech, average; bordering on hackdom is easily accomplished.

So he did not word it right, do you guy's have to **** all over him?? You jump on everything thinking they will all be hacks. I can't imagine that anyone trying to get into the feild thinks that they will be a " good tech" after getting there G3 I don't know how you started but I went to night school as I still worked to put food on the table for my family. After 20 years in the trade I still don't know it all and never will. Am I a good tech or a hacker ?? You tell me. As obviously you can see into the future. Should be " easy for you "
Not trying to defend anyone, just defending everyone till proven wrong.

I agree!!

but that is the attitude that you get from the hvac techs (especially in Ontario) who think they are better than everyone else. (at least the ones who still have jobs)
