i was wondering the best way to check a board on a rtu to make sure it is defective?

swap boards from an identical RTU and see if the unit operates correctly. Put suspect board in the one other board came out of. If the problem goes to the other RTU.........Bingo! Would this be a Trane ( Voyager or Precedent)?
