Ball float traps

I ran accross two boilers today (same job) that had these traps installed. They are Armstrong 3LD. Are they common like another tech says or are they band-aides?

Looks like a bucket trap. Pretty common. Should be replaced fairly often if I remember correctly from the spirax sarco class.
