Is it true that the engine is built in Germany and the transmission comes from France?

Where did you hear this? They might have some German engineering, but built there? I believe some older Ford trannys were made in France though....probably that crappy Pinto tranny.

I was out pricing work vans the other day and thought I saw this on the window sticker. I think it was the turbo model/v8?

The cars are built in Flat Rock, Mi and the engines at Romeo, Mi, not from Germany or France, there are no Turbo V8 models either

And I want one!

I've owned my '67 camaro for 27 years. My first car.
Chevrolet will be following the leader again when they reintroduce the Camaro.
I wanted a new Mustang GT the first time I saw it. Great price for great looking car. I priced the insurance for one, and that ended my dream of owning one!

Swampfox, I was under the impression the V-6 Mustang used the same SOHC 4.0 liter engine as the Explorer. I have a '97 Explorer with the 4.0 liter engine, and the statement of origin label on my Explorer states the engine is from Germany and the automatic 5 speed tranny is from France. I recall my '86 Bronco II had the same parentage....German engine and French automatic. Has Ford moved engine and tranny production to the U.S. in the intervening years?

I bought my wife a 2005 Mustang Rag Top last summer.

V-6, 5 speed, the insurance was a ton cheaper than the V-8, it runs like a bat outta hell and can burn rubber with the best. Fun car to drive.

Not sure about the V6, the 4.6 V8 is made in Romeo

hate it when they don't show the date on the web page.
This is prolly a fairly old page. (http://www.muscularmustangs.com/2005/news0047newengine.php)

I accidentally put a Pinto auto tranny in reverse at about 30mph once. Lots of noise and shuddering.Kinda hard adjusting the radio with all that erratic bouncing around!:D

MCR beating on a Ford again.....:)

My '68 Camero had that rocket 250 inline six Chevrosuck in it.....worst motor I've ever had. I pulled it out in favor of a 350 for better gas mileage and I don't have to mention the power increase.

I figured it wouldn't be long, Chevy has nothing to compete with the new 'Stang. I want Ford to re-introduce the Cobra.

That Pinto held together.Chevy will compete with the Rustang when Ford builds something to compete with the Vette.(Actually I hear the're bringing back the Camaro but I'd rather see a Chevelle.)And just because you inhierited your grandmother's 4dr Nova, complete with such power options as a A.M. radio, vinyl seats, and a spare tire, don't pick on that old stovebolt motor. they powered many a boat, and sank a few too!:Dhttp://www.freesmileys.org/emo/toilet04.gif

BTW.....you had a "Pinto" huh? no wonder you don't like Fords. Everyone makes mistakes....try a new Mustang. ::D [/B][/QUOTE] The Pinto was my mom's. A blue wagon with a roof rack to haul a ladder on! I worked with a guy who bought a wagon new. They wouldn't let him put a trailer hitch on it because it would void the warranty. He ended up buying the same car back 15 yrs.later for a winter beater. All the bumpers and fenders where held on with bailing wire:D
