I'll start off by saying I have no experience with steam humidifiers. Had one last week spitting water. I havn't seen the unit. My question is would a steam trap that is leaking by cause a scinerio like that. Any input is always appreciated.

What is it that is providing this "wet steam" to your unit?

Not sure. Haven't seen the setup in the lab. I know there is a steam boiler that is dedicated to supply steam for humidifiers in a animal lab.

Yeah a steam trap could cause that.

The initial service call was a water leak. The tech said he found water dripping/spraying from the humidifier where the steam was supposed to be exiting. Just trying to get some ideas before I go out and take a look.

Probably need to rebuild or replace steam trap. If the traps not letting the water through it will back up and come out of the humidifier manifold.

partially plugged oriface. Or not enough warm air flow and steam is condensing back to water.
