I'm writting a book.
In fact, when I finish the first ... I will be writting a second.
They will both deal with Customer Service.
They each have a lot in common.
One will deal with management's motivation of employees and the other will deal with employee's attitudes towards customers.
Bottom line is this .... until both sides of the coin begin committing to delivering Excellant Customer Service ... the consumer ... the end user ... walk away wishing they had an alternative to dealing with this particular service provider.
And that service provider can be anyone from a telco, grocer, plumber or doctor's office.
And in between penning a few words here and there in my notes for the first book ... I am in search of an EXCELLANT employer who has high standards and honesty is not just a word to him! It is a way to live!
.... thanks for askin'

Way to go R12, you are destined for the stratosphere, I think. I am sure you have several wonderful ideas relating to life in the rock & roll world of refrigeration. But will someone pay for your opinion? Probaly not! "May the heat go where it is not wanted".

Having ideals seems to be a problem in a world with low standards.
I am shocked every time I come across someone who wants something done correctly and they understand what value means ... not just the lowest up front price on something!
Often times I get the impression I am living in an Islamic culture .... cause people's lives are not held in high value. Save for the rule of one man in authority in some mansion...
I just watched a film: "Miracle" with Curt Russell. The character he plays is a hard nosed coach who is taking a team of very good hockey players, to the Olympics!
He isnt trying to be their friend. He doesnt want their praises or affection.
He's not using them for personal gain but he does drive them hard.
He does demand excellance from each and every member of the team.
And he takes a stand beside them to support them in every way possible so that they succeed!
In the end, they win!
He never pussy foots around when anyone is right ... he rewards excellance. Yet too, he deciplines those who slack off.
He never plays favorites.
Performance, excellance are his goals. And he acheives them as a team effort.
He realises he is not the player in the field ... he stays on the sidelines instructing them them as they do battle.
Why am I so impressed by a film? Because I dont find that level of character, committment, maturity in employers in this industry!
I'm not cynical, I'm just stating the facts. And some of these shifty characters I have called my friends for many years!
I would love to work for a service contractor who had the guts to make his yes, YES and his no, NO.
Someone who knew enough to take advice from others from time to time. Cause let's face it ... no one man has all the answers! And often times ... we lose our perspective and end up making serious errors in directing the business.
Myself, I dont want to run someone else's show ... I just want to run some calls and be home at night. Simple.
But I'm not stupid. So when I say the pipe dont fit ... someone best be listening up and do something about it.
And when I say the brasing rod sucks ... ya got the choice to either pay more to have it take longer to sweat the joints together and have the welds look ugly ... or you simply buy the right rod to do the job with ... like everybody else does.
And when I say something about buying a micron gage to use every time the crew pulls a vacuum on a new system ... it would be to the company's advantage to heed my sugestion.
There's nuthin sadder than looking at a oil leak near the sight glass on a month old RTU split system ... one they pulled a vacuum on... by the watch ... and not by the level of mercury ....
I'm not a perfectionist. I simply like to follow the rules. That's all.
I dont go off on my foreman when they say this or that about something.
I dont go flipping them off just cause I may not agree with everything they say or do.
I may not even agree with how they decide something ought to be done or when it is performed.
But so what ... so long as I do my job ... I should be able to just keep on plugging away at it.
This is just one more reason why I like people who have a certain level of standards and respect.
