Ok so I was trying to do a search on tandem compressors.

So in the Pro Commercial Forum I do a search this forum on "tandem"

Taken to the advanced search page and get
"Sorry - no matches. Please try some different terms."

Okay maybe I don't know how to spell or the all the people are typing tandom, so I re-type in "tandom" and search
"Sorry - no matches. Please try some different terms."

:gah: No one has talked about tandem compressors? Then notice the checkbox under the Search By Username is checked for "Exact Name" I didn't check it. Uncheck it and re-search.
""Sorry - no matches. Please try some different terms."

Finally change the Search in Forum it to search "All Open Forums" and I finally get results for "Tandem" and "Tandom"

Okay maybe a user error, but I have a hard time believing the Commercial Pro Forum never had a tandem/tandom post. Looks like a bunch got moved over to AOP.

We will have a better search feature when/if we get our software update.

Another search method is to use Google.

Try a Google search using HVAC-Talk.com tandem compressors and you'll get pages of results.

BTW - won't the Google search only return open forum results?

Generally, that's correct. The Google search engines don't have access to the Pro Forum areas, so you won't (or at least shouldn't) get results for anything in them.

However, we have noticed Google does pick up snippets of info in closed forums from time to time. How they do that I don't know.

Google can gather some idea of what's in the Pro areas from thread descriptions...which are currently visible to anyone.

I've also found Google gets hits on Tags...especially those listed in the Educational Forums, since each EF thread has a fairly complete set of Tags.
