I work exclusively with water source heat pumps and I have too look into a walk in freezer that has a copeland compressor and uses R404a.The kitchen manager wants to maintain 0 degrees at all times. It currently maintains between 2 and 5 degrees. Is their a way to drop this temp to 0 degrees?

How are you controlling the temperature? By pressure? By Stat? Is it pumpdown with an LLSV?

Does the pressure control operate a LLSV?

What are your pressure control settings?

Do you know your superheat?

get a load calculation then
compare that to compresssor capacity

chances are 99% that you cannot do with
existing equipment

very often, an inspector was source of colder
temperature, yet equiptment doing all it can

many are stuck eating labor trying to fix these jobs
to no avail

if you do not want to do load calc and compare with
current equip, then walk away from this job
