It looks like I will be going back to Alberta by November 1st.

I have taken the pre-app course at SAIT in Calgary in 2007.I have had a tough go of it in BC only finding temporary work with HVAC companies and Refrigeration companies.

I will be moving to Calgary but am willing to work in any part of Alberta.

My safety tickets include

H2S Alive
First Aid level 1
Transportation of dangerous goods
CSTS
CFC/HCFC ticket

Any suggestions are appreciated and any criticism is more than welcome.

Thanks in advance

Hey nice to see you are still on here and hard at it...I remember reading some of your posts a few years ago and recall what you were going thru at that time.

I am looking at heading West myself, and I don't know what there is around Calgary, but IMO it looks like there are more openings in Edmonton.

I know how you feel, as I have run in to a similar situation in my area.
I have worked at couple of the biggest/best places in my city (at least that is what I thought) and after I got there found it was vastly different then what I was hoping for. Worked with great people, but never got enough hours, or the place just didn't have enough work to keep all the crews busy. Many places now only want to hire on a contract or project basis, so unfortunately I have been moving around a lot in the past couple of years.

Could you tell me how I would go about getting an H2S, and CSTS tickets. I cant find anyone locally that offers them and almost every job out West requires them....
Are they relatively easy to get once I get there?

Those are simple to get just like every certificate if your not a complete dumb ass and pay your money you are guaranteed to get them. Most reputable company's will put you through a week long training program which includes H2S and CSTS.I did my H2S through these guys its a good course

And yes Edmonton seems to have more happening just cause of proximity to Fort Mac.

I'm gonna apply at a place in Calgary when i get there that i talked to before I left the pays not that good but I don't really care how much im making I just want experience so i can make a good wage later in this job.

Hey, I currently work in Ftmac, and have worked in Calgary my whole apprenticeship.. The wages in Calgary are from what I hear pretty comparable to Toronto/Vancouver. I was at the local wholesaler today and noticed that there were several ads. I think your best bet is to check the wholesalers.

Any questions just feel free to ask.
