I got a walkin cooler that doesn't cool down to 35 degrees and only cools down to 40 degrees the remote bulb t-stat is located in the cooler the problem is its set at 35 but does'nt close when temp rises I don't think its any thing else because the t-stat should be open only when temp drops what would be the best solution the unit. My insructor claims to replace the t-stat and drill a hole and located the t-stat outside. Also were can you get scematics for climate control units made by heatcraft

thanks

If it doesn't close on a temp rise, how is it cooling to 40 degrees? Set it to 30 and see if it goes to 35....might need a good cleaning instead of a stat.

Is the 40° temperature constant and consistent? Is the 35° the cut-in or the cut-out? What is the differential? What kind of tstat is this-brand and model?
edit: Have you tried to set it for 30° and see if it goes to 35°? If this is a commercial non-digital, the scale is not that accurate and may need a fudge factor built into it.

I have triedsetting it to 30 it goes to 34 but why yes the 40 degrees is I don't know what you mean by cutin or cut out you"ll have to dumby it down for me because I'm still new at this It is a johnson controls and is non digital

Cut-in is the temperature at which the contacts close & start the cooling process.

Cut-out is the temperature at which the contacts open & interrupt the cooling process.

Differential is the number of degrees Fahrenheit between cut-in & cut-out.

(A control may be either constant differential, or constant cut-in.)

Why do you care what number is on the knob?

If it will maintain 34° by setting it at 30°, just set it at 30° and leave it alone.
Take the knob off & throw it away.

Moving it to the outside of the box is fine, as long as the sensor is left inside of the cabinet.

might want to check preasure switch to see if set to high for 40 degrees

i personally dont guess the difference or attempt to compensate if temp control is not calibrated properly .... i would replace it .. & yes it is ideal to mount control out of box .. it is ok either way as long as u can keep it away from excessive moisture .... if u do move it out of box & also have to extend wires may i suggest upgrading to a Ranco ETC-111000 ( common wire needed ) .. it is a good control, is digital & is very user friendly ( u can also lock it from the tampering customer )thats just a suggestion ... its not much more $$$$$ either ....good luck
