View Full Version : Metal Grates for seperate cubes

the metal grate fell off of my ice machine so now it only makes sheets of ice does anyone know if it is welded on or glued on?

I'm pretty sure you will need a new evaporator.

Most are brazed on.

Post the model & brand name of the equipment.

Wow, did you just find the fins in the bin one day? Are those sheets that the unit made and dropped into the bin? You will need an evaporator, and normally that's a deal killer, but that machine doesn't look to be in bad shape otherwise, and you're sure producing sheets still. If you repair, be sure to get a good cleaning. Machine made 6/1996, I think. Evaporator is available as a part.

Yep, your local refrigeration pro can get you a new evap but be prepaired... it will cost about as much as that ice machine is worth or more after labor.

May want to look for a new cuber.

Buy a Hoshizaki......they don't do that. ;)

Seriously, the others are correct. You won't want to hear what it will cost to fix this machine.

We should make sure that our chuckles are understood to directed at the ice machine and not at azikas86. :) :)

I concur with the comments of the others, this machine is worthy of a quick and quiet burial. If it were to come within my reach, I would pull the gas, oil and maybe the water pump-if it isn't making funny noises. Then off to the recycler's crusher for a big squeeze. :)

If you absolutely need some ice until this machine is replaced, you might try thinning the slab thereby making it easier to break up.

Hoshizaki.....they don't do that. :)
