thats right, had ran into a hoshi km 2400 srb3 yesterday with a fan cycle switch instead of a head master control.Someone cut the head master and installed a fan cycle switch.I adjusted it to cut the fan on at 250 psi and cut out at 225 psi.Once i get a digital camera i'll show you the hacked up equipment at this new account, but was thinking what ya'll thought about this hoshi.I'm going back to check it today and will probably order a new head master and install it.

Sounds like a good idea to install the headmaster.

Fan cycling is cheaper thatn a headmaster.
If it would work well, Hoshi would be using it.
Now if it was a VFD, then you might get away with it.

So, you are saying it is a bad idea to use a fan cycle?

We use them all the time on old Hoshi's

Never a problem, been doing it for years and years.

Just harder on the fan.
Also, the pressures fluctuate more than with a headmaster.

Which is the absolutely correct way?

Whatever works, I guess.

I too agree

The incorrect repair is based on the wallet and not on professionalism. :)

Check this machine the other day and it was kicking butt.Told customer i'll leave just the way it is and if i have to tear into the refrigerant circuit in the future i'll install a new headmaster. By the way the fan cycle was orginal setting was set at cut in at 220 psi and cut in at 140 psi.

Yep.. wayyyy to low. Most HM's are set at 210 to 220 now-a-days. Up from the old 180 setting.

If I remember the 90* ambient day head is around 280?
