Had no less than 4 units with really crappy welds at the receiver connections - 1 of them actually leaked. They also don't seem to know how to neutralize the flux acids after welding so the steel components corrode right outta the crate. Last unit had the service ports right against the sheet metal so you couldnt even get the cap off!

Real nice units otherwise, quality components, excellent cabinets - just crappy assembly.

Anyone else having issues with the quality of their units?

Please get your model and serial numbers and report them to Joe Quint at Keeprite. This is information that we always need.

Pictures are recommended also. I can give you a phone number where they can give you an e-mail address to send models and pictures.

Will do. I know mfr's are keen for input from the field as I've seen Trane and others modify their products/procedures. Any mfr worth a hoot has a quality program and uses it.

How does Keeprite compare to Heil and Tempstar in the ICP lineup. Seems like everything in the box is the same, just curious where they price it.

In this respect we are talking Keeprite Refrigeration. Keeprite Refirgeration is a division of National Refriageration and A/C Products (NRAC), Sold under the Keeprite name in Canada and Trenton Refrigeration in the U.S.

Keeprite Furnaces and A/C are a division of International Comfort Products (ICP)

This is my second career. My first was Quality Assurance. I know all about customer service and appreciate a company that listens to their customers and uses that to better their products and or services.

RE: build quality - the copper to steel joints throughout the cabinets are of poor quality. The fluxes used aren't neutralized after manufacture and the steel components are corroded as recieved. Some units are so bad a crust 1/4" thick hangs down the entire length of the service caps.

My last job - of 4 units, 2 failed due to poor braze joint on receiver inlet (lack of penetration).

My current job - 11 units, all show the corrosion how many will leak?? My experience says 5 will.

However the copper to steel welds are being done, they aren't being done well. This needs to be fixed.

I offer this information to Keeprite so that their future products will be what is wanted and needed.

regards,
GB

Never had a problem with Keeprite build quality. Except for them 575 volt Baldor condensor fan motors EWWWWWWWWWW!
Replaced far too many of them, high failure rate and costly too, whats up with that? Is this something typical of 575 volt, the failures are always open windings.
