Im new to the profession and ive heard this both ways. I work on alot of self contained cases and ive been told to charge 134a as a liquid, ive read that 134a has a constant pressure and temp so why would you charge 134a as a liquid

Being a pure refrigerants, R134a, R12 and R22 can be charged either way. The blends like R401A, R409A, R410A and all in the 400 series of refrigerants must be charges as a liquid.

The Azeotropes in the 500 series like R502 and R507 act nearly like pure refrigerants and can be charged either way as well.

Just because. ;)

Actually it because the blends' mixture percentages cannot be maintained when dispensing as a vapor. The individual components have differing vapor pressures and as such, don't boil off to vapor at the same rate. Dispensing as a liquid keeps the mixture correct.

ok makes sense, is this what tech's mean when talking about glide?

Fractionization -the seperation of parts, occurs when one part of a blend boils off before the other part of a blend does. blends stick together in liquid form, in a gaseous form they fractionate.

todays secret word is fractionization, when you hear someone say it scream real loud!
