I have a problem with my central air/heating system. The house is 8 years old and we bought it Aug./05. During September I set the thermostat to the fan position without selecting cooling or heating. I was planning to just circulate air throught the house from the cooler basement. It seemed to work but only too well. Upon testing I found that the cooling system was in fact working even though it was not selected. I call the business that had installed the air conditioner sometime in 2000. They suggested a pinched wire but I could not see any sign of that. About a month later I installed a newer programmable thermostat following the directions for connecting the wires. Still the problem persisted although the programmed heating settings were working well. At this point I think the air conditioned system was not wired in correctly causing the air to function regardless of how the other switches are set. Any ideas about solving the problem would be welcome.

why not call someone familiar with low voltage control wiring?
