Hi,

I've heard/read reports of cracked heat exchangers in Payne furnaces. It was my understanding that Carrier, Bryant, and Payne furnaces all come off the same assembly lines and are made with the same parts. Is this incorrect? Can anyone confirm/dispute the heat exchanger issue on the Payne furnace?

How old? The newer models 80% and up we very rarely find cracks. Even though I'm not a BDP/Carrier fan, I will admit they do make a good heat exchanger. We have oodles of them around here mostly installed on lousy new construction duct systems. Now, older models below 80% are another story...

I am not positive but that almost sounds like a compliment!
