Hi,

I live in an 840sqft, 60 year old bungalow, in a 4 season climate where temperatures range from -40C in the winter to +40 in the summer. I have heard/read conflicting reports on the advantages of a dual burner furnace as opposed to a single burner. I am planning to go with a high efficiency furnace. Any opinions welcome. Thanks!

Do you mean 2 Stage versus single stage?

The 2 stage will generally be a lot more comfortable. Also be sure to get the variable speed blower option too (not a 2 speed fan). This won't overshoot the set temp like a single stage can. It'll move the air around a lot more keeping the whole house much closer to the same temp aswell.

I don't really think there's many drawbacks to the 2 stage other than the cost, but it's worth it with those temp swings.

And with that variable speed blower it'll help the A/C out quite a bit in the summer too.
