While visiting my infirm mother and father, I was asked to inspect the air filter of the listed BDP unit. When I opened the access door I found the existing filter floating in the airstream. That filter is of the type that can be obtained at big box stores and adjusted to fit varying widths. It doesn't fit, to say the least.

There are several questions I have. Please tell me the proper air filter size for the following BDP model.
Model # 517EN060
Product # 517ENX060000AAPG

This model's filter boundaries are 18.75" x 25. But it may require a special frame for the filter to fit into. Standard filters that I have tried (18.5 x 24.5 and 18 x 25) just get sucked up with the airflow. There isn't anything (lip, clip, band, border or frame) to prevent the filter from floating up with the airflow. Should there be a frame to holds the filter stiffly or securely? I would certainly appreciate your help and advice.

Thank you,
Ken Newman

Google the unit. My best bet on finding out what you need. As you have the M# and S#. Otherwise you can easily make a frame for it with some self-tapping screws, drill, and some brackets. That would keep the filter snugged down. Or install a filter in the return grille.

I have googled the info - to no avail, yet. The co. has been taken by carrier. I'm pursuing adaptations as you suggested.
Thanks for your time.

THat is a lot of BDP filter information. I will contact filters-now.com and see if they can narrow my choices.
Thank you.

I modified the opening by creating a frame with two 1x1x24 aluminum angles in edge. I offset them with spacers to reduce the unusual existing opening to a standard 18 x 25. Works like a charm. The air filter is now braced and won't fly toward the coils.
A little elbow grease goes a long.
Thanks for the suggestions.
