Sman3 temp clamp junk

My temp clamp broke in 3 peices when I tried to use it.Anyone else had issues with temp clamp?I bought sman3 2 weeks ago.The plastic is what fell apart not hinge.

you could have a testo and have to send the thing back to them every time something ELSE went wrong with it

How big a suction line where you clamping onto. I do residential so I barley open it to clamp on to the line sets. If anything I am going to modifie the liquid clamp for the smaller line set.

I use the fieldpiece pipe clamp with my meter which I think is the same and it broke the other day when clamping to a 3/4 pipe. The plastic broke and now the metal strip with the wires kind of hangs there. It still works but I figure the wires will short out soon. Mine is a couple of years old so time for me to buy a new one. Just hoping to make it for another month.

There was a batch of ATC1s that made it out to the field with some weaker material. We discovered the problem, fixed the issue and this should not be a problem any more.

Been using my SMAN3 for many weeks and taking temps on every call, all different line sizes. No problems on mine. Maybe you just got a bad one.

Mine is the ATC2. I think it was just old age.

I have had mine for a few months now no problems and I use it on 1 3/8 inch copper.

I lost my case on a windy roof at the mall so they just hang in the truck. Seem very tough.

Well talked with Fieldpiece on tuesday and guy said they would next day air me two new temp clamps that were checked to make sure there were not bad.Its Friday night and no temp clamps.

Ok so i have a question about the sman3. Is the temp clamp for the liquid line a little smaller then the other? Because i have had a problem in the past with fieldpiece temp clamp not clamping very good to 3/8 line. just wanted to find out since i have one on order for me at my supply house. they are selling like crazy out here. also what kind of prices did yall pay.

$325 to $350, depending on where you get them

I'd personally expect to replace the clamps at least once a year.....Heck, some guys replace their hoses more often than that...

get this one for the high side, fits small copper much better than the two that come with it, i use the one of the two that come with it for suction lines, it works

I finally got my replacement temp clamp.The new wires on the clamps are 16'' shorter than the ones it came with.

Good thing they sent me two clamps cause the other one fell apart today.The wires being shorter kinda sucks.

When did this bad batch get out? When my tech broke his ATC1 I let gave him two that I bought last summer but were seldom if ever used. He busted both with in a week.

I know we all have individual favorite brands, mine happen to be Fluke, Klien, and Yellow Jacket, but this guy seems to bend over backwards for the industry and those of us in the field. I can't think of one post on here where a Fluke rep posted his number and offered to fix a situation. If I owned (and it might happen soon) a Fieldpiece product I would feel pretty good right now.

Well, it worked. I bought an ST4. If it holds calibration after a few falls from the roof you have converted me. It feels pretty solid but my helper is an ape with the cordination of a toddler......:grin2:

We received our replacement clamps in less than 5 days.

Both of my clamps broke,one on a Friday and the other the next Monday. Johnstones replaced them at the store. Have another one that's been used hard for 2 years with no issues so figured it was just a bad batch of plastic or overly strong springs.
