I was woundering if it is custom for an employer to give an employee a doller or two raise when he gets a new license(certified) like a machanics 1 license( gas )? Just cerious is all because i will be recieving mine here in a few months. I live in Washigton. Thanks for the time.

passing an english class might warrant a raise.

I was wondering if it is customary for an employer to give an employee a dollar or two raise when he gets a new license (certified) like a mechanics 1 license (gas)? Just curious is all because I will be receiving mine here in a few months. I live in Washington. Thanks for the time.

It is not a given, but it will give you some bargaining leverage. I would certainly encourage anybody to pick up any additional certification or licensing as applicable.
If nothing else, it might give a prospective employer a reason to hire.

Why not ask your employer? Will your new license benefit the company? If you are going to generate more revenue for the company, you should work a raise out with them. Asking that question here won't benefit you there.

You're supposed to capitalize the 1st word of a sentence. :D

The custom is for the owner to think that you are going to ask for a raise if you take a test.

It is not customary unless it is written into the company policy.

Our company pays a buck more an hour for the passing of the RSES CM exam which is not required by law to work. We also pay a buck more for the passing of the State Type S electrical exam which is required by law but it is a hard test.

Also required by law is a plumbers type S, Gas service technician, oil burner technician and of course EPA refrigeration. These you don't get a buck for because you go to school on company time and you take the test on company time. If you leave our employ and work for someone else you still need these licenses by law. But once the license is in your name the license belongs to you even thought our company paid for them.

word of advice Always take courses that benifit you first regardless if the co is going to pay you more or not. As the qualification you can take it with you to the next company you may work for then It may get you that job and /or bettter money

Ahyup!! Only if you have a business here. That way they can show up at your office and rattle your cage without traveling too far. But if you are from out of state just come right in and work. Nobody is going to stop ya.

I was woundering .....wondering

if it is custom ....if it is customary

like a machanics....mechanics

)? Just cerious is all because i will be recieving mine here in a few months.

just curious because I will be recieving mine in a few months
-------------------------------------------------------------

If you will be recieving a licence in a few months, what you are saying is that you are taking a class in mechanics of some sort and at the end of the semester you will be able to take this test ... you may or may not pass it ...especially the first time you take it, so dont start counting your money yet

oh yea , when you get to the word vacume...it is spelled vaccuum

My intent wasnt to correct your spelling , just show you what the others were talking about when they suggested the english classes and learning how to spell

when axing the boss fo mo money it sounds much more intellegent when you are able to speak properly
and invioces look much more professional when the words are spelled correctly
