I just bought a 15 year old home with a Bryant Plus 90i furnace one year ago. I know the previous owner had it serviced before I bought the house. Last winter the furnace worked great. Today, I turned it on and the fault lights indicate a 'pilot proving lockout' or 'pilot proving fault'. I don't know what it means so here is my question.
Given the age if the furnace (15 yrs old) and the problem it has, is it better to get it fixed or just buy a new furnace?
Thanks in advance

It would be better to have a professional check it and give you their recommendation based on what they find.

Thanks Senior Tech. I'm calling someone tomorrow. Was just hoping to get some insight before I make the call.

Most units have an average life of 15 years, however, I have seen some 15 and older that looked and operated like new because they were maintained well. The problem your having may be a cheap or expensive repair...the led may be giving just a symptom not the true problem.
I.E. You take aspirin to alleviate a headache and the headache is gone, yet you still have high blood pressure that actually caused the headache....
Good luck with your service call and when they complete the diagnosis come back and ask the same question.

Thanks again. Nice headache analogy by the way.

That could last another 10 years, who knows, having it looked at before winter hits is important.
