When I started business 15 years age, I used 'Janitriol' as my low-end equipment, but stopped when I started having to replace evap. coils within 3 years on several of them.

My quetion is - the old 'Janitrol' units were what I call "light" units - meaning that the compressors were rated at a lower BTU ( per size ) than the 'better' brands.

I'm asking if the new 'Goodman' units are also 'light'?
Or if they have upgraded to the same BTU output as most of the others ( Trane, Carrier, Heil, Tempstar, etc ).

This has been the main concern of mine for awhile about using the new 'Goodman' equipment !!

This post is not meant for anyone to brand bash - I would really like to get a 2nd brand, but as yet haven't found one that I would be satisfied with.

Respectfully,
Richard

Goodman has been no "lighter" on capacity then other brands. These ratings are regulated through ARI and while some sensible cooling capacities may reflect a low capacity, the total cooling capacity is the same.

However, Goodman equipment today is simply not the same as it was a few years ago. Goodman has done a wonderful job of utilizing the Amana technology to increase the quality of the already value oriented Goodman products.

I have seen many more capacity and efficiency discrepancies with Rheem/Ruud equipment when I repped that brand.

(bornriding) RoBoTeq is right, Goodman would fill your need for LOW END equipment its what they do the best!
