Hi all,
I'm gonna try this question here because the fireplace forum isn't getting many hits. My question is. Should the vent pipe on a direct vent fireplace be as hot as your typical b-vent on a gas furnace. I would think not being that the fresh air is coming in around the exhaust. I do know that the clearance requirements are the same,(1") but just seems that maybe the pipe was too hot. The size of the pipe is 5 inch exhaust inside of 8 inch intake. Thanks for any info.

I understand the variances in outdoor temp. But my question is. Should it be as hot as B-vent from a furnace? Even at 100 degrees outside,,,would it be hot enough to burn ya?
