View Full Version : 90% condensing vent question?
09-30-2005, 04:45 AM
I bought a Trane XE 90 before I realized I could not use my existing shared B-vent.
I cannot vent through the roof and therefore must vent through the side of the house using 2.5" PVC. Because of the slope the side of the house is only about 25 " high with overhanging eves.
Question: What is the minimum distance below the soffet can the vent exit the house?
Can I use a shield to keep the condensation from ruining the soffet?

If you have to ask that basic a question (no offense, telling it from an expierenced stand point) than you should get some body who is in the business.
That ain't no camp fire your building.
You did not even consider the size from what I can see and that is even more important than venting.
Don't know the answers, you won't get much sympathy here.
And it's not about our industry losing money.
Putting in a 90 is very exacting and easy to screw up if you don't have the expierence.
'My advice: GET A PRO.

Well, if your walls are the typical 8' high, then you should terminate it approximantely 5' below that. Amazingly thats how tall a nice table or desk is to open the phone book and call a pro.
Not to side track this... but if you can get ahold of 2.5" PVC I'm impressed. No one around here carries it, but they can special order it for mucho money.
Ah, anyway, back to your regularly scheduled flaming
