Ok, I have a Turbo Torch Oxy Acetelyene torch kit with a really small tip that just doesn't do the job very well on 7/8 or 1-1/8 suction lines. I think its a 0386-0551 Turbo Torch tip that I have right now. What I want is the one that looks like a friggin' rocket booster pack going off. I have seen it on several YouTube vids on brazing. I think the one I want is

but Im not sure. Can anyone offer any help on purchasing a torch tip that doesnt shoot out a needle of heat? Thanks in advance for any advice you can offer!

That would never fit in some of the places I have to braze.

Uniweld makes two rosebud tips. one is pretty nice for general use and the other is for huge pipe.....

Unless you are doing large commercial systems the small rosebud tip type 17-15 #31170 from uniweld should be more than hot enough. It will braze up to 2 5/8 inch pipe. This tip fits both uniweld and turbotorch handles. The Johnstone stock # is H26-288. Get a uniweld catalog and check out the Cap'n Hook high performance tips.

Rosebud tips are by far the way to go. Nice wide flame that wraps the pipe.

I have a handful of tips for my HF Oxy/Act kit, but honestly never change off the rosebud.

Check that. There was once. Working on a condenser at an apt complex and they had iron straps/cage around all the units so that on one would steal them.
The bolts were so rusted that there was no way of getting it off.

5 minutes of a cutting tip and I was done.

Seriously, just stop my your hvac supply store and pick up a rosebud tip and you will never be happier.

If you use that thing better have GOOD insuurance- find a SMALL rose bud
or a J-hook if you don't like a plain tip -to much heat and you will burn up
"O"rings and cause flakes in the copper:.02::whistle::cheers:

I use the small Uniweld outfit with an MTF-2 & 3 Cap'n hook, I also have the tuning fork tip that I use when replacing a reversing valve.

Would need to know what torch handle you have to be able to tell you anything accurate.
You may have a Smith torch handle or are using an adapter.
Your current tip can handle brazing 1/4" - 7/8" piping.
You'll need tip# 0386-0553, it's for 5/8” - 1 1/8” piping.

The multi-flame rosebud tip# 0386-0544 will also work. If you have enough clearance they are great. They're quick to braze as they tend to "wrap the flame around the fitting" providing even heat.

If you do have a TurboTorch handle it sounds like you're using adapter #H25-981 between the handle and the tip to convert to a Smith brand tip.

I recommend you bring your entire set up to your local gas/welding supply company and they will be able to get you exactly what you need.
I personally use size 4 tips, size 2 tips and a multi-flame size 15 tip.

Best of luck to you!
