if the hi-limit on a gas furnace "opens" during operation would you recommend i by-pass it or discover the REASON it is opening?

As soon as the limit trips you know the reason... lack of airflow. Now find out what the airflow problem is.

torino, was asking that because Brucew bypassed a hps on a heat pump because it was tripping as it was suppose to.
