Need some help here!
just changed a residential copeland cr32k6 and the compressor continues to shut down on internal protector. Everything on the system checks out, the compressor is shutting down at HS 200psig and suction of 60psig (I was still adding gas to the low side when it shut down.) Ambient temp is about 80degrees.
Measured current (when running) at 8amps across both compressor leads. Voltage is good and constant; 122volts both legs. Capacitor is good and new. I did not change the contactor, but exisiting one checks good.
It's a simple system, no other HP or LP protection just a compressor, fan, starter and capacitor, but the compressor will not stay running.
The compressor I was replacing was doing the same thing and I determined it was internal overload failure. I cleaned the system up with deep vacuum purged with nitrogen and vacuumed again. Installed a sporlan c-163 drier and I'm not having head pressure problems.
Any hints for something I've missed would be appreciated.
