Hi, My air handler for my AC only system is installed in the attic with one return in the hallway for the whole house (small ranch). Would it be ok to run the fan in the winter time to help circulate the warm air from my wood stove insert located in the living room fireplace? I havent heard of anyone doing this before, so I wanted to see if it would do anything negative to the air handler in someway. Thanks for any information.
Be sure that when all the interiors doors are closed, the return doesn't create a negative pressure in the room with the wood stove, that will effect proper draft of the chiminey,It Can Kill, very serious.

As said, as long as it doesn't affect the draft of the fireplace, give it a try. If your supply registers are all on the ceiling, you might not get the warm air were you want it. If you have other returns in the home, remember they'll be pulling in cooler air to dilute the warm air from the living room. Blower speed might be wrong for heating, you might feel more of a draft then you'd like. I guess at least it would pull excessive heat out of the living room.

The stove has a liner installed, I so believe that will take care of it pulling smoke in the house. I will have to try it and see how it works out. I just wanted to be sure the air handler wouldnt get damaged. Thanks

i had the same set up in my last house. installed extra return in room with wood stove, could heat whole house with it. just because stove has liner does not mean blower could not affect draft. any air loss in supply ducts in attic could make house negative pressure and pull down smoke pipe. good idea to have things checked out first.

We just want to keep you alive, thinking that's more important ,than an air handler.
