View Full Version : Trane BCU to AX Jace via BACnet Ethernet

I'm working on a R2 to AX JACE replacement project. The R2 JACE was integrated to the Trane BCU and working fine. I can't seem to get the new AX JACE talking to the BCU. All I have is the MAC address of the BCU controller from the R2 JACE's database, no IP address currently. I'm not certain there even is one. Using the arp-s command from the console doesn't show the BCU in the list.

BCU can do IP or Ethernet, so guess you need to find out which you were talking to the BCU with. Do you have a Tracer Summit workstation on site?

The older R2 play-station type JACE's (and I think newer 411-545's) are capable of BACnet Ethernet using MAC addresses only. The new JACE 600's are not due to the NIC interface...I think. The BCU had to be set up with an IP address. I don't know if the ethernet protocol would have worked with the IP assigned to the BCU but I suspect it would. We decided to go with IP protocol and it worked fine.

I have this same scenario. Did you use Summit software to configure the BCU to use BacnetIP instead of Bacnet Ethernet? If so, do you know the model and firmware of the BCU? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You use the ipvalidation program that comes with summit to configure the bcu for ip. You will need a serial cable to do this.
