As part of my work, sometimes I need to be able to determine the rated BTU capacity of a compressor, but without physical access it, I only have name plate information. Right now I am looking at 2 Trane Rooftop AHUs. A model TCD240B and a TWE120B300EL. What are the available databases or other resources for finding this info?

From the Model Number TCD240B
240 = 240,000 BTU / 12000 = 20 TON
TWE120B300EL
120 = 120,000 BTU
120000/12000=10 TON

Thanks, that's a big help. Could you let me know where to find this information myself? Or do all manufacturers code it into the model number the same?

Trane comfortsite you may have to register to be able to get to all the good info. But they have service facts from 40 plus years ago.

Thanks for that. What about other brands of AC besides Trane? Also, lots of time the units are not AC, but are for freezers, coolers etc.
I was hoping that somewhere there would be a central resource for this. Probably no such thing exists, just hoping ;-)
